IBS #7 Psalms 111:10

Psalms 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!


The reason that wisdom starts when we begin fearing the LORD is because in Him all things are made perfect. Wisdom is knowledge combined with the Spirit of God which gives love. It is one thing to just have lots of knowledge, but not any love and that is by no means wisdom as defined by James 3:13-17. Why you would need to fear God to have wisdom is what’s interesting. The fear of the Lord begins when we start to grasp the height and breathe of God. Not that we will by any means full grasp God and all of His righteousness, but when we look to His goodness it is automatic for us to respond in a healthy fear of Him. Becoming knowledgeable in something is easy, anyone who has determination and a smartphone can do it in virtually any subject. However, to gain wisdom in something take much more passion as well as the fear of the Lord and can only be gained and used in love.

I will count any earthly knowledge that I have as nothing and will ask God for more of His wisdom this week.

Galatians 5:13 There is two way to look at liberty; one is to see it as a chance to go off and do whatever they want to and the other is to see it as a chance to have the freedom to serve others. IBS Galatians 3:2

Galatians 3:2 This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? In this verse Paul is asking the Galatians a rhetorical question and is just meaning for them to start thinking about the genius of their faith. This is something that we can all can benefit from doing. Any time that we as Christians start getting faith and works confused we immediately start loosing the effectiveness of our ministry. When you first hear this you might think to yourself "well atleast others will benefit from my ministry, right?" But so often we fail to realize that the Lord doesn't what to use our ministry to just benefit other, but rather He wants it to benefit us as well. If God only cared about getting the ministry done then He could just speak the words then it would be done and that would even be much more efficient, but rather He decides to use us an imperfect and sinful people to do His ministry. 1 Timothy 6:6-7

1 Timothy 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain, 7 for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world We as Christians should be able to be completely content with just having Christ, however more often than not this isn’t the case. I look at my life and how often I am driven with un-contentment and the desire for more, but this shouldn’t be so. There are however other times in my life where I have been able to just rest in the Lord and when I am doing that He completely meets every want that I have. Not to say that He gave my everything that I wanted, but rather that me gave me complete satisfaction in Him.
