Revelation 1:9

Revelation 1:9 I, John, your brother and partner in the tribulation and the kingdom and the patient endurance that are in Jesus, was on the island called Patmos on account of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.

I want to start this by reading a little bit from form the book of Luke.

Luke 21:12‭-‬17 ESV But before all this they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors for my name's sake.  This will be your opportunity to bear witness.  Settle it therefore in your minds not to meditate beforehand how to answer,  for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict.  You will be delivered up even by parents and brothers and relatives and friends, and some of you they will put to death.  You will be hated by all for my name's sake.
I imagine when John was writing this letter Revelation, he was thinking back to the time that his best friend in the universe, Jesus said to him ‘you will be hated for my names sake’ john sure knew what it ment to be hated by the world. He had gone through a number of different persecutions including being boiled alive in oil and not dying. So if there is someone that can grasp the concept of tribulation it's John. Here John encourages the seven Churches he is writing the letter to along with whoever else reads it to have endurance. The message that John is giving is even under the most unbearable scrum stances have endurance in Christ because only then can you make it through the tribulations. One of the ways God gives endurance when we are going through tribulation is blessing us when we count it joy while we are going through different persecutions or trials.

//\\APPLICATION//\\

This week Whenever I am going through tribulation I will seek Christ's endurance by counting it all joy.
